Three Ways Workers Can Improve Their Wellness In 2023 Employ Partners

Posted

In this post, we’ll explore three ways that workers can improve their wellness as we head into 2023.

     1. Take Care of Yourself

The beginning of the year is a time when things can get stressful. You may have spent extra money, eaten meals that are not healthy, or worked overtime. As you move into the new year pick one area of self-care that you can improve. Start with something simple like staying hydrated or getting more sleep. Having a set bedtime will help your body stay in a rhythm making your daily routine easier. Make healthy habits as convenient as possible. Buy a large water bottle, prep meals or snacks ahead of time, etc. If you are busy, simplicity will help you sustain your goals. Make a one-time decision like cooking meals you know you love at home three days a week. Don’t try to take on too much. It isn’t about perfection. It’s about finding the system that works for you.

     2. Get a New Hobby

If you work full time it can be hard to carve out time for a hobby. Getting outside or actively doing something you enjoy is good for your immune system and mental health. Pick something that you love doing that also improves your quality of life. Consider joining a fitness class or a book club. Learn an instrument or sign up to take a language course. Build things into your schedule that bring you joy. If you’re not sure where to start, check out this list of hobbies.

     3. Cut Things Out

Thirdly, consider cutting out things in your schedule that drain your energy. Do you stay up too late watching Netflix? Cancel your subscription for a month and see how you feel. Do you eat junk food late at night? Try not buying junk food for two weeks and see how you feel.  While you can’t always avoid stress, you can set limits around things that negatively impact your mental and physical health.

     4. Prioritize Your Time

The beginning of the year is the perfect time to look at how you are spending your time. Are you happy with your career? Are you spending time on the things that matter most? If you tend to prioritize work, you may need to intentionally schedule a time to rest. It’s also a great time to evaluate what is and isn’t working for you. You may want to consider a new career path. Imagine yourself five to ten years down the road. Is the way you are currently spending your time leading you to where you want to go? If not, pivot in the direction you are hoping.
