In this booming job market, it’s not uncommon for workers in certain industries to receive multiple offers. Choosing between each one is a good problem to have, but it can also be overwhelming if both options are strong.

Find Out Your Decision Deadline

It’s okay to let each employer know that you have other offers and that you need to think about it. Ask them if they have a deadline they need your answer by. Even if they don’t, don’t dwell on it too long. Take the time to make an informed decision, but also respect their time. And never ghost one employer, if you decide on another. Always let them know kindly and curtly that you’ve accepted a job elsewhere.

Compare Each Role

There are many factors to consider when comparing employers. What’s your schedule? What’s the commute like? How does PTO accrue? Is there room for growth? What’s the culture like? How do their benefits packages compare?

You can find some of this by researching each company. Anything you can’t find in research, ask in the interview. If you’re already past the interview, it should be okay to email the person who interviewed you and ask. Just let them know you need this information to evaluate each offer.

How Do They Align with You Long-Term Career Goals?

Establishing career goals keeps you from stagnating in your work life. So if you haven’t already set some goals down on paper, take the time to do so.

Then you can look at each opportunity to see if it’ll push you toward those goals. Employers have asked you what you can do for them in many interviews, but now you’re in a position where you need to think about what the employer will do for you.

If all of your options look good, looking at it this way can be the deciding factor.

Consider Satisfaction Over Salary

Taking the highest paying job might be your first instinct, but don’t let money cloud your judgment. How do you feel about the place and the people who interviewed you? If it feels like a similar work situation you weren’t happy with before, you might set yourself up for misery all over again.

Getting paid what you’re worth is important. But the treatment and working conditions that come along with that pay can take their toll on your mental health. Pick the place you think will make you the happiest.

Remember to Take Your Time

Take your time to make the right decision and keep open communication with each employer. Think about the things that are important to you concerning work. Compare and contrast by asking the right questions during the interview process and doing research on each company.
