A material handler helps move inventory on and off of trucks. These can be large or small items. Your job would usually include using dollies, hand trucks, moving carts, and straps to lift and move heavy items like furniture or boxes. Safety is key and a material handler should always use the proper lifting techniques to avoid injury. As a material handler, you will also deliver items to residential homes or office buildings. The position requires a friendly attitude and for you to deliver items with professionalism and a smile! It is an active position and requires you to be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
2. What a Material Handler is Paid
A material handler makes good starting pay. We currently have an opening that would pay you $17 an hour. Material handler positions are often a good place to start if you don’t have experience or are looking for more and they can provide opportunities for growth down the road. Positions are also sometimes temporary which gives you the chance to test the waters and see if you like this type of work, providing lots of flexibility.
3. Where a Material Handler Works
Positions like this are open in all sorts of places. From medical supply companies to a warehouse that delivers, material handlers usually start in the warehouse and go from there.
